Cabrillo Racing Series  

Sailing Instructions 
 
1.      RULES
1.1    The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2    Competitors shall wear wetsuits with a minimum thickness of  be the 3/2mm. The minimum coverage shall be  the “shorty” type. (short arms and short legs). 

1.3    Competitors shall have identification mark on their sails which is readable from both sides.  The minimum of the font shall be 9’’.

2 . ENTRIES 
2.1  Competitors shall complete registration at the race site  before 1pm.

2.2  A competitors meeting will be held at 1:00pm before each event.

3. COMMUNICATION WITH COMPETITORS
3.1  A Competitors meeting will be held on the beach next to the life guard station at 2:00pm on Sundays before each event.

3.2 Official notices will be posted on the lawn next to the Bath House.

3.3 Changes to the Sailing instructions will be posted by 1:15pm on the day of the event.


4. NUMBER AND SCHEDULE OF RACES
4.1  Five races are scheduled for all classes per event provided the minimum wind speed is met. (12 Knots)
4.2 The first warning signal will be at 2:45pm on the day of the event.

5. RACING AREA
5.1 The racing area is Cabrillo beach, on the ocean side.

6. COURSES & MARKS
6.1  The courses and marks are described in attachment “A”.

7. THE START
7.1  The starting line will be between a staff displaying a red flag on the starting line signal boat and a red inflatable mark.
7.2  A board shall not start later than one minute after her starting signal. A board that starts later than one minute after her starting signal will be scored DNS. This changes RRS35.

7.3  CLASS FLAGS
* TOP FLIGHT / SPORTS CLASS – white flags with letter “A”.
* ENTRY LEVEL / LADIES CLASS – white flag with letter “B”.

8 . RECALLS
8.1 The Race Committee may hail the sail number of the boat identified on the course side of the starting line after the starting signal. The failure of a hail, the failure of boat hearing the hail or the order of the hails shall not be grounds for redress. This changes RRS62.1(a).

9. THE FINISH
9.1 The finishing line shall be between the last mark of the course and the starting line Signal boat.

10. RESTRICTED AREA
10.1 Competitors shall NOT launch or land outside of the area designated by the life guard for windsurfing use. 

11. FINISH LIMIT FOR EACH RACE
11.1  Competitors failing to finish within 10 minutes of the first board in her class will be scored DNF by the race committee. This changes RRS35.
